Policies and Procedures

Below are the most important policies and procedures for my class.
Grading Policies
Basic classwork assignments and labs will be graded using a check system.
Check Minus = 10 points (this is half credit, an F)
  Check = 15 points (this is 75% credit, a C)
Check Plus = 20 points (this is full credit, an A+)
Check Plus Plus = 25 points (this is an A+ with extra credit for exemplary work)

All other assignments will have the points written directly on them.

The Grade Scale
    100%-90% = A
      89%-80% = B
      79%-70% = C
      69%-58% = D
      57%-00% = F

Entry Procedure

Students will enter class quietly and begin copying the agenda immediately in their planners. Upon completion students will immediately begin working on the posted assignment.

Leaving During Class

Students must get permission and then fill out the Hallway Passport section in the back of the Agenda in order to use the restroom, get a drink, go to the nurse, etc.

Exit Procedure

Students will remain seated until excused. Students will not put away materials until instructed.

Agendas

Students are to record all due dates, class work assignments, and homework in their agendas. I will provide students with a written agenda daily (on the board in a set location) for students to copy.

Acceptable Work

Work is to be completed neatly in pencil or blue or black ink. Papers are not to be torn out of binders or spiral notebooks. Papers that are folded, crumpled, burned, mangled, or moist will NOT be accepted.

Absences

Students are responsible for obtaining any work missed due to an absence and must do so they day they return. Make-up work for each Unit will be kept in the folders on the wall. Work missed due to absences will be accepted until the end of the current grading period.

Late Work

Late work will receive a 25% penalty regardless of the number of days it is late and will only be accepted during the 6 week grading period in which it is assigned.

Grade Checks

A printout listing each student’s grade and assignment record will be sent home periodically. Students are responsible for getting this signed by a parent/guardian and returned to me. Signed Grade Checks will be worth 20 points toward your grade.

Films/Video Clips

Throughout this school year I will show a few films and multiple video clips which support the California Standards for Social Sciences.  Click here for more information.
