Unit Walk (20 points – check system) This assignment prepares students for what is to come in the Unit and focuses on reading maps/charts and analyzing pictures. Notes (??? points depending on the Unit) These are the meat and potatoes of my class. This is where I cover all of the state standards. Every quiz question is addressed at some point in the notes. If students study their notes, there is no excuse for failing a quiz.
Labs (20 points – check system) These include historical simulations, class discussions, film notes, etc. They vary from unit to unit but are all designed to bring the unit alive.
Study Guides (20 points – check system) Once completed properly the study guide will include every answer for the unit quiz.
Quizzes (50 points) Each quiz has ten multiple choice questions, ten true/false questions, and one mini-essay question.
Tests (100 points) Every six weeks all teachers in the Social Studies Department give a Standards-based Criterion-Referenced Test (CRT).
Choose Your Own Adventure (40-80 points) After each unit students receive a list of possible assignments/projects. They get to choose which ones they complete, and they may complete more than I ask for extra credit. |
